Oh my, what a treasure City Guide Tours is! We went on 3 this visit and each one was fabulous! I do not remember all of our tour guides names except Gail, but the 3 women were amazing! They were each so well organized, researched and friendly. If you want to see and/or learn about San Francisco I cannot think of a better way. I wish we had known about these tours on previous visits. The tours are all donation based so folks of all income levels can participate and give according to their ability. What a gift and resource this volunteer tour program is!
We loved the experience with Daniel! Me, my husband and my brother learned a lot about San Francisco history during a walk around downtown buildings, the Gold Rush, the French and how California started. Also good curiosities about some famous people back then like Madam Mustache. Highly recommend this tour for those who want to know more than Golden Gate Bridge when it comes to San Francisco.
I had a wonderful time with Applause! walk. Renee is an awesome story teller, who actually reminds me how I love performing art and those stories behinds the bricks.
Highly recommend, if you desire to experience the city from a different perspective, please book a walk tour. I bet you won’t regret it.
My husband and I have taken over 20 SF City Guides tours over the past few years when we visit SF. Today we had a City Hall and Civic Center tour with Michael. I enjoyed it very much. Michael was very informative and friendly. The tour was of a good length of time and there was a bathroom break. I learned so much while having the pleasure of appreciating the SF Civic Center.
I had an amazing experience exploring San Francisco through the city guide program. The volunteers, like Kay, Michael and Philip, were not only passionate but also well-trained. Thanks to them, I learned a lot about the history of the city including Fishermen’s Wharf, city hall and Japanese tea garden. This program not only deepened my connection with the city but also led to new friendships. Highly recommend to everyone!
Dave was a great guide who shared excellent knowledge on the Golden Gate Bridge with those who attended yesterday despite the cool wet weather! Our 10 and 13 yr old sons really enjoyed the details and a walk across to the southern tower. Will look out for other tours by the SF Guides next time we are in SF!
Thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Fort Mason/Aquatic Park! Views and hidden gem areas I was unaware of and a wonderful, knowledgeable guide! My sister likes to take these tours whenever she is home visiting the City. She has taken several and I have done two tours and have enjoyed all.
My husband, my daughter and I booked the SF City Guides "Murals of the Mission" earlier this week. We are Bay Area residents and love the many walking tours offered daily by the SF Library system. Our guide was Renee who obviously knew lots about the history of the murals we were seeing, but as a neighborhood resident was passionate about her topic and presentation. The art was amazing and the history behind it was inspiring. Though we've done many SF City Guides tours over the years, my husband said that this was his favorite. It's among mine too, but the diversity of the tours, topics and the knowledge of the guides makes it hard to rank any one above another. We always recommend these walking tours to friends, guests and family who visit the Bay Area. It's a great way to get up close and personal with SF while always learning something of interest!
